GPS ALARM & LOCATIONAL COMPASSThe Must-Have Travel ToolFAQHow simple is the app to use? Pretty simple, we think. The interface has had a lot of thought. It just does what it says and that's it. What phones does this program work with? The app works great with iPhone 4S, 4 and 3GS models. The GPS alarm will work great with the 3G version, but the compass is less accurate due to the lack of a built-in magnetometer. The app also works on iPod Touch devices. Can I run other apps while Next Stop is running? For the alarm to work, it must be the active application. However you can listen to music by using the iPod application to start playing, then minimising it and opening Next Stop. The alarm screen wil lock once the alarm is activated and the alarm will interrupt the music when the perimeter is reached Any tips for setting up the app? Well, there are a lot of uses, but certainly setting up your bus stops, searching for your birth place or nearest relatives, and seeing exactly how far away from them you are. Do I need an Internet connection for Next Stop to work? The app needs either a GPRS or Wifi connection to access the Google Maps interface. However once the location is set, the alarm will work anyway, as will the compass. As a result, it is better to program in specific locations before you set off on a day of sightseeing etc. Next Stop relies on GPS data from the iPhone. If you travel underground it may not be able to receive reliable GPS data until you reach the surface. The alarm will not make a noise (and therefore not wake you up) if you have the manual 'mute' control enabled on the phone. |
